Aardvarks Can't Jump... or can they?

Last night I went to watch Aardvarks Can't Jump's final Edinburgh preview of "Tomorrow, Maybe' at Omnibus in Clapham.

I've heard a lot about the show as a friend and close colleague is a cast member and co-producer of both their Southhampton and Edinburgh runs. The two of us have spoken a lot about the production as - because I do love to doodle - I offered to design their new logo (And there he is 'Anthony' the Aardvark...apparently!).

The reason I feel compelled to write about this particular theatre visit is that it really made me realise that there is nothing more encouraging and inspiring to watch someone you like, admire and work alongside producing such a stellar piece of theatre to such a high professional standard.

I think all actors - whatever level they're working at - get discouraged, lets be honest. And yet, I see an awful lot of personal competition and 'one-upmanship' in the industry. Seeing 'Tomorrow, Maybe' was a wonderful reminder that we're all producing amazing work in different genres and we're all travelling a similarly confusing creative path.

You can have all the famous, world renowned idols in the world, but sometimes it is those closest to us who provide the biggest inspiration to us. It's so important that we remember that, nurture and support our colleagues and cherish the inspiration they give us.
